Montessori Community School is committed to helping interested families learn more about our school, our educational philosophy and the Montessori approach to learning. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend a Tuesday morning slide show & tour and to observe in our classrooms before submitting an application. We want you to ask questions and see the classes in action so you can determine if our school is right for you and your child.

Tours are scheduled twice a month on Tuesday mornings. In addition, we invite you and your child to visit during our Sunday open houses held three times throughout the year, where you can see our campus, visit classrooms, and meet our teachers and administrators. Our Wednesday morning “Classrooms in Action” events provide 2 hours on campus spent learning about the school, observing a classroom for an extended time, and learning about Montessori instruction. Check our Admissions Calendar for upcoming events.

We welcome applicants at all levels from toddler to middle school. The Montessori Community School maintains a balanced enrollment of age and gender in each classroom. Children with special needs will be admitted as space is available and when those needs can be met in a mixed-age Montessori setting with reasonable accommodations. It is not necessary for a student to have previous Montessori experience for a child to be successful at MCS. We accept transfers from a variety of school backgrounds.

Applications are accepted year round, though we do encourage you to submit an application as soon as possible for the following year as spaces are limited. After applications are reviewed, Toddler and Primary students and parents are invited to an informational interview before final enrollment decisions are made. Elementary and middle school students are required to submit additional forms and transcripts and to spend time visiting the class.

Our current families are asked to submit re-enrollment contracts by the end of February. At this time we can determine how many new students we can accept for the following school year. Students in the waiting pool are generally notified by mid-March of their application status for the following school year.

In certain cases, an applicant will be accepted to a program mid-year. For more information about the application process, contact Carol Parker, our Admissions Director at (919) 493-8541.
