Montessori Community School, like most area schools, relies heavily on the support and volunteer time of its families. Parents are asked to give a minimum of twelve hours of volunteer time each year. We have many dedicated volunteers that help make the school strong. At the core of our volunteer community is the Montessori Community Association (MCA), a parent/teacher organization.
The MCA provides a wide variety of community building and service efforts to improve the overall experience of families who are a part of our school community. Part of its efforts are fundraising projects which enable the MCA to underwrite “extra” items or programs to enhance the MCS experience. In years past, the MCA’s efforts have funded outdoor learning environments, shade structures, playground structures, landscaping, fittings for the Fine Arts building, a sprung floor for the gym and more. Please find the MCS Volunteer Booklet here.
Volunteer activities are not limited to fundraising. Dedicated parents spend countless hours helping in other ways. Board and committee members meet regularly to ensure the well-being of the school. We have a strong group of volunteers who plan social events, help prepare sets and costumes for our opera, offer their time as class parents, provide support to families through the Family Support Network, work on outdoor gardens and landscape and so much more.
Everyone has something to give. The more involved you are, the richer your experience will be as a parent and as a member of the MCS community. Please fill out the Parent Volunteer Form and return it to the front office. To record your volunteer hours the log is located in the MCS Parents area of the website in Forms.
