If You Give a Toddler a Ball

By Tim Daniel, Head of School

(With apologies to the great Laura Numeroff)

If you give a toddler a ball,
he’ll probably just throw it over the fence
expecting you to pick it up
and give it back to him.

And when you pick up the ball
and give it back to her,
she’ll probably just throw it
over the fence again,
and again, and again,
laughing each time she throws it and
smiling each time you give it back to her.

When you tell the toddlers:
“Sorry, but I have to get back to work…bye-bye!”
They’ll probably just say “bye-bye”
and wave to you, expecting you to do the same…

…which you do…again, and again, and again.
