Join Our Culture of Giving

Since 1980, MCS has thrived because of generous donors and volunteers from our current school community as well as from alumni, their parents, and their grandparents. Along the way, a shared vision has energized not only those who benefit directly from what MCS has to offer, but also from those who willingly hold the door open for others they may never meet.

Annual gifts of all sizes made to our MCS Fund enhance the school’s ability to develop children as active, peaceful, life-long learners, and global citizens. We aim to grow the percentage of our operating budget met by annual donations so that we are in line with comparable private schools. To this end, all MCS families are asked to choose the school as one of their giving priorities–at whatever level is possible for their household.

Each spring, a gala and auction brings MCS community members together to raise money for that year’s MCS Fund. Parents volunteer to solicit auction items, promote the event, and work at the event. It’s a great time of friend raising as well as fundraising.

MCS is working to increase the participation of alumni in annual giving, and the school now has a staff member tasked with alumni relations. Our alumni return to campus on High School Information Night for our eighth graders, to visit former teachers, as parents enrolling their own children, and sometimes as valued substitutes or faculty.

Major individual gifts have been invaluable to our school’s growth and development. At several critical junctures in our school’s history, significant donations made expansion of age and program offerings possible. Parents, grandparents, and board members enabled the school to acquire the initial nine acres for the school, to add four more acres of natural area, and to build each of the Level communities as well as the Spark Center for the arts and the gymnasium. A single gift of $1.5 million is the largest gift received to date.

Being actively involved in our school community is a profoundly rewarding experience and is by no means limited to financial contributions. Each family’s time and talents play a vital role in the school’s present and future success. Knowing that the home-school connection is vital not just to the school, but also to our students, we encourage broad and frequent participation in school activities.
