Located on the border of Chapel Hill and Durham, MCS is accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA).

The Montessori Community School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
