Toddler Program

The Toddler Program serves children between the ages of 18 months to three years in a classroom that is both spacious and inviting. Children have the ability to move freely and pass from one activity to another, focusing on developing independence. MCS offers a half or full-day program as well as extended care options.

The schedule includes time for individual work with language enrichment materials, hand-eye coordination materials, art materials, and practical life materials (such as plant watering, mopping, and table washing). The bright and airy classroom provides many open spaces for the children to move and explore.

There is group time for singing, reading, music, and movement. Children spend time outside each day, weather permitting, and enjoy a morning snack. Toddlers have in-class Spanish instruction. Full-day toddlers will have nap/rest time in the afternoon.

During the first week of school, toddlers experience a unique orientation period during which the number of children and the length of time spent at school gradually increases. By the end of the week, all of the children are ready to come to school for the day.

This orientation period gives children the opportunity to adjust to the routine and newness of school in a calm, peaceful, and secure setting. Most toddlers are not yet toilet-trained when they begin the program.
